Position Overview

New Life Building Supplies Inc. is seeking a Senior Commercial Interior Designer to support restaurant and retail renovation and development projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for commercial space planning, preparation of technical construction drawings, and coordination of multi-trade implementation activities.

This role is a senior technical position focused on commercial interior design execution and project coordination.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed commercial interior layout plans for restaurant and retail spaces

  • Consult with clients and internal stakeholders to determine functional requirements, design objectives, and project specifications for commercial interior spaces

  • Advise on the selection of materials, finishes, lighting, and interior elements in accordance with design intent, brand standards, and code requirements

  • Prepare comprehensive construction drawing packages, including floor plans, elevations, ceiling plans, and material schedules

  • Produce 3D renderings and visual presentations using CAD and related design software

  • Estimate material quantities and project costs to support budgeting processes

  • Ensure design documentation complies with applicable building codes and safety standards

  • Coordinate with HVAC, electrical, fire protection, and signage contractors during project implementation

  • Conduct site visits to provide technical guidance and resolve design-related issues

  • Assist in standardizing interior design templates to support operational efficiency

  • Work collaboratively with suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely project completion

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Interior Design or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered

  • Significant experience in commercial interior design (typically 5–8+ years), preferably in restaurant or retail projects

  • Demonstrated experience in preparing detailed construction drawings

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D modeling software

  • Knowledge of commercial construction standards and code compliance

  • Experience coordinating multi-trade construction projects

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Asset Qualifications (Preferred but Not Required)

  • Experience in multi-unit restaurant development

  • Experience in cost control and supplier coordination
