About the Role
AM Earthworks is seeking a Renovation Carpenter for various residential and renovation work settings in Calmar, Alberta. This role focuses on maintenance and repair expertise, with employment offered on a day-time basis.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will prepare estimates for labour and material costs and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine work requirements. You will be responsible for preparing layouts in conformance to building codes using measuring tools. Tasks include measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling, and joining materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials. You will build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems. Fitting and installing windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware are also part of the role. Additionally, you will survey building locations and levels, and maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in various establishments.
Qualifications & Skills
Candidates must have a secondary (high) school graduation certificate and possess 3 to less than 5 years of experience in this field. Proficiency with hand tools is required. The role demands physical capabilities such as bending, crouching, kneeling, a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, handling heavy loads, and managing a large workload under tight deadlines. The ability to work with minimal supervision is essential. Personal suitability includes accuracy, client focus, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication, judgement, reliability, teamwork, strong values and ethics, and punctuality. Security requires bondability.
