About the Role
This role is for a Long Haul Truck Driver with Mayank Transport Inc. based in Abbotsford, British Columbia. The position involves operating in various locations, including national, regional, and international routes, with a requirement for cross-border and overnight travel. Overtime is required for this employment opportunity.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include operating and driving straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, often as part of a two-person team or convoy. Drivers will be responsible for loading and unloading goods, tarping, and ensuring the safety and security of cargo, including dangerous goods. This role also involves performing pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, overseeing vehicle condition, conducting brake adjustments, and performing emergency roadside repairs. Drivers must receive and relay information to central dispatch and accurately record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption.
Requirements
Candidates must possess a secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Essential licences include a Driver's Licence (Class 1 or A) and an Air Brakes Endorsement. The role requires experience with straight trucks (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles) and tractor-trailers, along with the ability to operate GPS and other navigation equipment. Required documentation knowledge includes accident or incident reports, bills of lading, driver logbooks, inspection reports, maintenance and repair reports, trans-border documentation, and trip reports. Security and safety requirements include a valid passport, a clean driving record check (abstract), and passing a drug test. The position is physically demanding, involving attention to detail, handling heavy loads up to 23 kg (50 lbs), and prolonged sitting.
