We are hiring!  We are looking for a live in caregiver….. this is a salaried position that involves living at the dog hotel and includes fully furnished accommodations. This job is located in Prince Rupert, British Columbia.

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Dog Caregiver to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for animals and the ability to provide exceptional care for dogs of various breeds and sizes. This role involves ensuring the well-being of dogs through attentive care, meal preparation, and maintaining a clean environment. The Dog Caregiver will also be responsible for administering medication when necessary and providing companionship to our furry clients.

The position we are hiring for is an after hours live in position. There is a studio apartment attached to the dog hotel….. and this role is for someone (or a couple) to live at the dog hotel and be there to supervise and care give for the dogs from 5:30pm to 8:30am everyday, seven days a week. The apartment accommodation is included in the package and incorporated into the salary.

Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve meals according to specific dietary needs.
- Provide daily exercise and playtime for dogs to promote physical health.
- Administer medication as directed by pet owners or veterinarians.
- Maintain cleanliness in all areas, including kennels, play areas, and feeding stations.
- Monitor the health and behavior of dogs, reporting any concerns to management.
- Assist with heavy lifting when handling larger breeds or moving supplies.
- Create a safe and nurturing environment for all dogs in care.
- Engage with dogs through companionship and social interaction.

Qualifications
- Previous experience in caregiving or animal care is preferred.
- Knowledge of meal preparation specific to dietary needs is a plus.
- Familiarity with medication administration for pets is beneficial.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by the role.
- Experience in senior care, nursing homes, or hospice care can be an asset.
- Strong cleaning skills to maintain a hygienic environment for dogs.
- A genuine passion for animal welfare and commitment to providing excellent care.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
