About the Role

Carpet One Maple Ridge is seeking a dedicated Floor Covering Installer for various work settings including residential, commercial, industrial, and on-site customer service environments within the urban area of Maple Ridge, British Columbia. This role involves working in a dusty environment, with employment terms offering flexible hours across early morning, day, shift, and on-call options.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include inspecting, measuring, and marking surfaces, as well as preparing flooring plans and scheduling. The role involves measuring, cutting, and installing various floor coverings such as carpeting, resilient materials, and vinyl decking. Tasks also include fastening underlay and underpadding, preparing floors for installation, removing existing coverings, and inspecting and repairing damaged floor coverings. Installers will employ specialized equipment like knee kickers for stretching carpeting and perform direct glue-down and double-bond carpet installations.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a secondary (high) school graduation certificate and have 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in floor covering installation. The position is physically demanding, requiring the ability to handle heavy loads, perform bending, crouching, and kneeling, and demonstrate hand-eye co-ordination and the ability to distinguish between colours. Personal suitability includes efficient interpersonal skills, being organized, and working effectively as a team player.
