Job Description
About the Role
Bubble's Daycare Inc. in Whitehorse, Yukon is seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Educator. This role is based in a child care centre, day care centre, or nursery school setting, providing comprehensive care for children.
Responsibilities
The Early Childhood Educator will bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers. A key responsibility is to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children. This includes activities such as storytelling, teaching songs, preparing crafts, and taking children to local points of interest. The educator will encourage children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity. Guiding children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits, along with preparing snacks and arranging rooms for lunch and rest periods, are also essential. This role involves observing children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems, preparing reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors, and discussing progress at staff meetings. Establishing guidelines for behaviour and maintaining collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers are also required. The position involves planning and maintaining an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children. Furthermore, the educator will plan and organize activities for school-age children in before and after school programs and supervise and co-ordinate the activities of 3-4 other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants.
Requirements
Candidates should possess a college, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of one to two years, or equivalent experience. Experience is considered an asset for this position. Required certifications include Child Development Assistant (ECE Level 1), Child Development Worker (ECE Level 2), Child Development Supervisor (ECE Level 3), an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, a First Aid Certificate, and a CPR Certificate. The role involves repetitive tasks and is physically demanding, requiring attention to detail, and a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling. Personal suitability includes punctuality, dependability, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication, flexibility, interpersonal awareness, reliability, teamwork, and adherence to values and ethics. Successful applicants must undergo a criminal record check, medical exam, immunization records check, tuberculosis test, and vulnerable sector check. The primary target audience for care includes infants from three to eleven months.
Why this job suits newcomers
This job posting is highly relevant for newcomers to Canada as it is LMIA-positive, meaning it supports the employer's application to hire a temporary foreign worker. The requirement for 'experience an asset' suggests that prior Canadian work experience may not be a strict prerequisite, making it more accessible for those new to the country.
Benefits
Bubble's Daycare Inc. offers a comprehensive health benefits package including a dental plan, health care plan, paramedical services coverage, and vision care benefits.
