About the Opportunity

Mistaan Catering & Sweets Inc. is seeking a Cook in North York, Ontario. This full-time position offers employment during morning and day shifts. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking complete meals or individual dishes and foods. This includes coordinating special events, determining food portion sizes and costs, and planning menus while estimating food requirements. Duties also involve preparing special meals for customers with food allergies or intolerances, and for patients as instructed by a dietitian or chef. The role requires inspecting kitchens and food service areas, training staff in food preparation, cooking, and handling, and ordering supplies and equipment. Managing kitchen operations and supervising kitchen staff and helpers are also key responsibilities. Additionally, the cook will maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment, and ensure kitchen and work areas are clean.

Qualifications and Skills

Candidates must have a secondary (high) school graduation certificate and possess 7 months to less than 1 year of experience as a cook. The work environment is fast-paced and physically demanding, involving handling heavy loads, repetitive tasks, standing for extended periods, and working under pressure, requiring attention to detail. Personal suitability traits include a client focus, excellent oral communication, initiative, being organized, a team player, and strong time management skills.
